Not a review of this location, but the SSA in general. I lost my SS card when I moved a few years back. When I tried to order a replacement online, the website kept saying that my address was invalid. Very strange since I copied it directly off of my drivers license, the post office has no problems locating me, and the IRS had no problem finding me when they wanted money. Garbage system.
Good service in this office. They called me back 10 days later, after I sent the request and, despite the closed office, made an appointment for a personal meeting (since my question was important and required a personal meeting). In other offices, I was told that I need to wait for a personal meeting for several months, so the 10-day period that turned out in this office can be considered good, taking into account the coronavirus restrictions. Thanks.
This place has very, very horrible service. I have been trying to get help for my situation for about 2 months now. I leave messages and nobody is returning my calls. When I do get a live person, they tell me one thing, then when I call again, I’m told something different. I’m given phone appointments and social security never calls. They keep failing me over and over and I don’t know what else to do. The actual business is closed so you can’t go up there. So sick and tired of this.
Its rediculous that for the year my daughter has been born, i have not been able to get her a social security number, since the office is closed to the public. How is a government office allowed to be closed to the public for a year. We the people should be allowed access even during a pandemic, we should be allowed even more now than ever. Now here i am left spending $100 for my daughters social security card, THE FIRST ONE! Im now having to jump through hoops playing the mail game, sending and recieving documents. Wasting time during tax season.
My application for name change has been sitting in Ms. *Burridge*s office for 8 days waiting to be processed. This is the first step to the long name change process and is unacceptable. I recieved my original documents back in the mail 2 days after they were recieved by the FM SS office, so she was in the office at this point. I was informed by another agent at this SS office that it should not have taken this long to process my application and was given her direct extension. When I spoke to her, her excuse was I was not here and I will process today. As stated above, Burridge was able to get my documents back to me, so why has my application not been processed in over 1 week? I now have to cancel my appointment with the today DMV as it will take 24 hours to appear in their system according to Burridge. The next available DMV appointment isnt until August 25th! Why is it so hard for people to do their job these days?!?
WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! OFFICE IS CLOSED BECAUSE OF COVID EVEN WITH ALL OTHER GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS BEING OPEN! IN ORDER TO GET SOCIAL SECURITY REPLACEMENT CARDS YOU HAVE TO SEND VIA MAIL ORGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND YOUR ID. NO COPIES ALLOWED. I SENT THEM ALL CERTIFIED MAIL ON 5/19 SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE SIGNED FOR THEM AND NOW THEY DONT KNOW WHERE MY DOCUMENTS ARE. I CALLED. GOT HUNG UP ON ONCE, ONE TIME GOT TOLD THEY WOULD SEND AN EMAIL TO THE SUPERVISOR BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME BACK. NOW TODAY AFTER MY DOCUMENTS BEING IN LIMBO I CALLED AGAIN AND REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR AND THAT IS NOT AN OPTION. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW HORRIBLE THIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN!
Initially I thought this was going to be a nightmare, I was pleasantly surprised when my experience was great :-). I did some research on what I needed to bring with me and was prepared with the correct documentation. I walked into a full room of people 10 minutes before the opening time of 9am and thought I will be here all day. I signed in, took a seat and was called to see a representative 7 minutes after they opened. I sat down and was greeted by a Ms. Rivera and she took care of my 2 issues very professionally and compassionately. Needless to say I appreciate how wrong my image of this office was upon reading some of the ratings on Google. My advice is to come prepared with the documents needed to accomplish the activity youre trying to complete.Thank you Ms. Rivera for your help, it was a pleasure meeting you!
If I could give them no stars, I would. Prior to visiting the office, I called the 800 number and spoke with someone regarding my situation. I was advised to visit the office as the documents I faxed five times were not in the system. Upon going into the office, the person I dealt with gave me completely contradictory information than what I was told over the phone. This individual was rude, condescending and disrespectful. He would ask if I had any questions and proceed to cut me off before I could finish my sentence. Needless to say, I left more frustrated and confused than when I walked in. It also didnt help matters that there does not seem to be any consistency in the information provided via phone contact vs. the field office. If you are expecting help, guidance or some form of remedy regarding any matter, you will not find it here. If you arent being rushed or belittled, you are met with a smug attitude when you have the nerve to ask a question. This is precisely why I avoid going to the office at all costs.
I was dreading going to get my name changed after reading all the negative reviews online. When I drove up and realized there was no more parking in the front and Id have to park in the back (I didnt even know there was additional parking in the back until I drove up for the first time!) my dread doubled. I went in, found it to be very crowded, took a number and settled in for a long wait with no wifi. I waited maybe 30 minutes and my number was called (I was expecting to be there for hours). I went back to the window I was destined for and the lady that helped me was so nice and informative! She really made the experience, dare I say, almost enjoyable. It was an easy process and I was in and out in a timely fashion. I really didnt have a bad time at all and was pleasantly surprised.
5 months ago we were there. The wait wasnt too bad and everything seemed to be resolved. We waited and waited. Finally my husband called and was told there is nothing in the system related to this claim. We left there with about7 pages of documentation!! How could there not be any record???
I was originally a bit hesitant to visit this Social Security office based on the general notions of “governmental inefficiency” and many of the reviews on the office’s web site. But after my first visit, I make a point of going to this office whenever I need assistance. I always leave with more information than I came for!On my first two visits, I saw Jackie Burke and Jason McDonald. The meetings were unbelievably productive, informative and helpful. At my first meeting, Jackie helped me apply for Social Security and Medicare; on my second, Jason answered all my questions about Medicare and helped me understand IRMAA premiums. Both Jackie and Jason greeted me with a smile and were engaged, pleasant, helpful and informative during our meeting. I left both visits accomplishing much more than I expected; and, was treated professionally and respectfully.Incidentally, I went to the office both times without an appointment and was in and out in less than an hour.
First not only did I have to wait for an hour with 2 kids(4 month old and 4 year old) they allowed another guest to take my number and then blamed me for it moving fast enough! Then when the man realized I had my SS card he rudely asked me why was I there! So I explained because I was changing my last name. Horrible experience! SUPER RUDE!
I went in for a name change. We pulled into the parking lot and saw a sign for more parking around back. I didn’t even know that many people could fit in this place. I was nervous and thinking we would be there All day! Walked in and it was packed. The system they have is a little wonky but we figured out, to go to the kiosk and check in. We didn’t wait long at all! Maybe 20mins. The guy behind the window was a little overwhelming but helpful as soon as we got the vibe right. My experience really couldn’t have gone any better, given the flow. Typical government building. Not bad.
Today I was prepared to be sitting at SSA for several hours. To my surprise I was called before an hour! I heard many numbers being called. Kelly was the woman whom took care of my worries.I am thrilled that my issues were taken care of.I also noticed numerous people smiling as they left today.Keep up the good work.
This is for the gentleman at window number 2, who helped me yesterday. You may or may not ever see this, but I wanted to say thank you for your help, as I greatly appreciated it. I didnt have to wait very long before my number was called to your window and when I walked up to your window, I was greeted with a friendly smile. You made the whole process extremely easy and quick. I want to thank you again for your kindness and for all of your help.

We just moved into the area from Boca Raton with the Social office there on Yomato road has the most amazing staff cleanliness and all. When you walk into this social security office you feel like youre walking into the welfare department. They treat you like trash the security guard needs a new job she hates her job shes rude shes racist.. I stood there very patiently waiting to ask her a question she was helping some couple from Haiti. Conversating about what parts of the country they come from. Laughing having a good old time and I was trying to get information from her. As soon as her conversation was over she walked away from me. Following her around she would not answer me. I finally get to the window. The person theyre did not have the answers and what I needed. My daughter who is disabled got up very frustrated and told the gentleman I give my mother permission to speak to you I have no more patience for this and walked out. I then proceeded to explain to the the gentleman what was going on documents in hand. He cut me off he would not let me say a word he was very rude.. he gets so angry because my daughter walked out she did not disrespect him or anything this is her disability she does not have the patience. Before she walked out she told the man I give my mother full Authority to speak on my behalf. I continue to talk to him and he said to me he cannot me help me if my daughter wants to act like that and walk out he cannot talk to me about her case hes not authorized to do so. She clearly stated that I can speak on her behalf. Ive then asked for supervisor. .the supervisor came over and asked him did her daughter give her permission to speak on her behalf he said yes,Supervisor asked this gentleman then why am I here at the window? explain my story to the supervisor ,I requestedfor an appointment. Simply because the man at the window could not answer our questions and help us with our problems. My daughters check was cut so severely down to $95. Had the situation been addressed there and he did his job by simply putting in some information into a computer because we had moved. My daughter would not have to wait almost 2 months to get her check fixed. She has an infant daughter that she tries to care for. Thank God she has her family to help her because if A disabled person had to depend on these people they would be screwed.. the facility was filthy the bathroom is filthy. My daughter had to take medicine so she had a bottle of water to take her medicine anti-seizure medication. The security guard yelled at her ..she explained to her that she needed the medicine to take a and thats why she took her bottle of water out.. she literally embarrassed my daughter and screamed at my daughter across the room( yelling) well then go outside and drink it... I think it is a disgrace that people with this abilities such as elderly who have no one to speak on their behalf or people such as my daughter who cannot do these things on her own have to go into a horrible place and be treated so disgracefully. The staff needs some retraining and the security guard to go work at Burger King where she belongs. The supervisor was helpful but also had an attitude. Now I will say I dont know if it wasAbout us or at his staff for having to go to the window and fix his employees problem if there was less than zero that would be my review on this place.. there is no other social security office near us but I am considering driving an hour north to go somewhere else. In fact my husband has to make an appointment and I told him to not go there so we are going to Port Charlotte to a different Social Security office this place is an animal house and should be shut down.
Very rude and not helpful at all. They lost my form 4 times for a refund and gave me a run around for a year, I still havent been refunded. They have no sympathy at all when it was regarding the loss of a family member and trying to correct their mistakes. They gave me wrong information and now their reply is its my word against theirs. This whole administration needs to be evaluated and retrained their customer service and support is in desperate need of attention, someone really needs to address this. Our tax payers money hard at work I see.
Office people wont answer the phone!!Update, despite saying 9am is the open time, after calling from 9 to 10, I could only get a recorded message that said to call back when they open! Finally at 10, I got a similar message, but at least it told me that the wait time was 45 minutes and it allowed me to have them call me back later. That was nice of them!!!
Horrible thats all I can say. Its like being in a slater house waiting for your number to be up.The person I saw was Glen I told him after I was finished speaking to him or should I say yelling thru a plexy glass window and the overhead yelling of numbers that I couldnt hear him. Wait was short with all the people their but him. I told him he was the rudest person Ive ever dealt with at a SS office. Im from MA and were not like that. Im finding out that FL isnt as nice as it use to be.
Today May 23rd, 2016. Arrived at a crowded SS waiting room. Checked in at the Kiosk and took my number B112. Sat down for a 45 min wait. I was called into room 10 asked for a replacement Medicare card, showed my drivers license and answered security questions. SS specialist said I should receive replacement in 7 to 10 days. Process took 2 minutes with a 45 min wait. Very professional considering how busy it was with English/Spanish etc.
When you call the number you are forced to listen to a lengthy message which has nothing to do with the purpose of your call. When that is finally over, the automated voice (I despise the individual whose voice that is) asks Youd like to talk to somebody, right? This process takes well over one minute of your time. When you answer yes, the voice responds with Im sorry, no one is available to talk to you now, please call again. Total time wasted: one minute twenty seconds in order to hear everyone is busy. Of course, the real truth is that they are probably out smoking in the parking lot. Is there anyone, ANYONE who thinks this agency should not be abolished?????
I had the misfortune of paying a visit to this office to drop off paperwork for my father after my mothers death. Their ticketing system was not working, so the security guard (who apparently only exists there to yell at any person whose phone rings while theyre waiting there for hours, or give misinformation about the broken ticketing system) told visitors to write down the number shown on the screen and wait for those numbers to be called. Of course, none of those numbers were ever called. Multiple people asked him whether the system was broken and what to do since theyd been waiting a long time and the cue had passed them by. He kept insisting that it was fine, and the numbers dont go in order, and they should keep waiting. Of course it wasnt fine, and only after one woman made enough of a stink about numbers being skipped did he go talk to an actual Social Security employee and announce to the waiting room that of course the system was broken and everyone would have to get new tickets. Once through a double wait, the Social Security staff person was rude and gave information contrary to what was on the agencys own site, and wanted to get me to leave and have my father (who is elderly and too hard of hearing to talk on the phone but doesnt use TTY or other services, and communicates only in writing) just call the national 800 number and talk to someone. Despite that, she had to accept the documents he sent with me, and the matter was resolved without my father having to call anyone. This is one of the worst Social Security offices I have ever witnessed.
Im from the east coast of Fla, moved to Leigh just over a year ago. I HAVE to say, the ppl I have came in contact with ,both at the Social Security office and the DMV in Ft Meyers are fabulous!! They are courteous, friendly, and very helpful. Most of all, they are efficient!! On the east coast, they are rude and seem to be annoyed that ppl need assistance. Thank you all for , first, having the kindness to do the job at hand without taking it out on the ppl you help, second, for being patient with those who have questions, needs, or no understanding of the process youre given to handle what is at hand. I applaude you ALL! Be proud of the job you do, you should be. Thank you!
I would rate with no stars, was a complete waste of my time. I took a day off to get my son help who is only 10 and they did nothing for me. The guy behind the counter asked me for his state ID, which hes 10 and has none. I have a passport that is expired and he could not tell me if this would work or not. Never have I been treated so bad in my life. I cussed the guy out and walked out. WHAT A JOKE, people who need the help cant get it cause they cant stand to waste the time.
The most rude people works in this office. I be in this office 3 different times, with 3 different employees and they treat me in the same way, i start thinking that is a requirement be a rude person to get a job in here. I hate coming to this office with all my heart.
Got a call back from the National number and it was explained that I couldnt make an appointment to ask questions . ..this is not the way it used to be. When I then went to inquire about benefits on the phone the rep hung up and I got to take a survey..not too surprising a result from the federal government . As usual we pay a lot for very little . Pretty sad .
Made three trips due to no one able to give definitive answers. When I finally thought I got the answers I needed, I paid almost $600 only to hear the next day that I must wait another year to get Part B coverage reinstated ! Unbelievable. Poorly trained, poorly educated and poor customer service. Sad that a Federal office is so inept.
This has to be the worst ss office in the usa. they are extremely rude, unhelpful. i asked the man in window two if he would tell me an amount of a overpayment and he in a loud voice said ,No. i went to the port charlotte office with the same question and they instantly told me. this seems to be the way it is there the whole way up the line into the administration. terrible
Would not accept electronically certified marriage certificate. Employees have not been educated on the many counties in Florida that have upgraded to electronic certification verification. This lack of communication between government departments is completely unacceptable.
Honestly, I have no clue what this office is all about, but dont even try to resolve your problem via the web site. You are dealing with true idiots that cannot make it in private industry. I kept indicating having problem getting on the web site since it will not accept my password, nor get I reregister with my SS# and any proof they desire. Well, it cannot be them, you must have computer problems, these people get actually paid more than minimum wage, please lets save all of us $$ and send the whole administration to India, and include the White House Staff and POTUS.
I have recently been looking for an appointment to process a social security number, but they tell me there are no appointments and they will be closed until further notice, does anyone know anything about it? Im an exchange student and they wont let me work at the university if I dont have my SSN, Ive been waiting for a month. Thank you
My first full time job was for 20/12 years in Philly PaMy next full time job was with the lee county schools so al of those years I paid my taxesI just called my local SS office but nobody would talk with me so Im very upset and there government employees being paid by taxpayersEd
They do not take care of me, I have been wanting an appointment for a year and a half because my one and a half year old daughter does not have insurance, I am disappointed.
Too long a delay and those attending have no idea of the $ 144 increase inMonthly consignment according to medicare and internet and TV ads
