We love these delicious Caramel Marshmallow Rice Krispie Balls during the holidays. They were always a big hit. We knew Christmas was fast approaching when our mom made these yummy treats.
They were such a big hit that we now make them for our families. They are perfect for a party, movie night, or neighbor gifts. So easy to make that you can involve the whole family.
Once your family has learned how to make this easy treat they’re going to want to do it the next day as well. These caramel rice krispie treats are a sweet treat that will make the family want more! All you need is a medium pot, a large bowl, and a lined baking sheet. For the ingredients you will need rich caramel candies, sweetened condensed milk, butter, krispy cereal, and mini marshmallows or large marshmallows. You mix the ingredients to create a marshmallow mixture and before you know it, you have a bowl of rice krispies! So next time you go to bake dessert, try out this recipe.
To store these crispy treats, place caramel marshmallow mixture on some wax paper. You can wrap them individually with plastic wrap, put it in an airtight container, or put them on a plate to take to your friends. These caramel treats are sure to be a hit!
These are best if you eat them the same day you make them, but they can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container if needed.
Ingredients needed to make Caramel Marshmallow Rice Krispie Balls:
- Wrapped Caramels
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Butter
- Large Marshmallows
- Rice Krispies Cereal
- Medium Saucepan (THIS one is great)
- Big Mixing Bowl (You’ll want a big one like THIS)
- Lined Cookie Sheet

HOW TO MAKE CARAMEL MARSHMALLOW RICE KRISPIE BALLS:
In a medium saucepan place the caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Over medium heat stir constantly until smooth and creamy.
Using a toothpick or skewer, dip each marshmallow into the caramel mixture. Tap off the excess.
Pour the Rice Krispies in a big bowl and then gently roll the caramel covered marshmallow in the Rice Krispies.
Place the caramel marshmallow rice krispie balls on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper and gently pull out the toothpick or skewer from the marshmallow.
Let the Caramel Marshmallow Rice Krispie Balls set up for about 30 minutes.

Ingredients
- 14 ounces caramels about 50 wrapped Kraft caramels
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 12 ounces marshmallows large
- 7 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
Instructions
Unwrap the caramels. In a medium saucepan place the caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Over medium heat stir constantly until smooth and creamy.
Using a toothpick or skewer, dip each marshmallow into the caramel mixture. Tap off the excess.
Pour the Rice Krispies in a big bowl and then gently roll the caramel covered marshmallow in the Rice Krispies.

Oh my GONE. GREAT recipe. We've changed it up a wee bit. After their dipped in the Carmel, we rolled them in crushed pistachios, let set up a few minutes then dipped back into the Carmel, then rolled in crushed rice Krispies. Let set up a few minutes.Dipped into melted white or dark chocolate. We did batches of each chocolate. Then rolled gently in Krispies. I'm SO Making people happy. Best Recipe yet. Thank You!!!

If you live in Canada and you can get MacIntosh Toffee - use that instead of the caramels! I think the ratio is about 6 bars of toffee or use the MacIntosh Caramel toffee wrapped candy. Either way, Freeze your toffee to speed unwrapping. Smash the frozen toffee bars into smaller bits for quicker melting. Melt and mix in a double boiler to keep your toffee warm and subtle. I like to use a wooden chopstick or a fork to dip the marshmallow into the toffee and then tap the excess off. Plunge the coated marshmallow into the cereal and place on a wax paper-lined tray. Store in an airtight container. When your chopstick gets too gummy, switch it out for a clean one. It's a little tedious, but these little treat re so worth it! YUM YUM! A classic, favorite Christmas tradition in our family!

We used to put the balls into stand-up ice cream cones. It keeps small hands from getting so sticky. The cones were a favorite for taking to school for birthday treats (when kids were able to take treats).

These were a hit at my company party! You gotta move fast when putting the caramel on the marshmallows because they will start to melt in a matter of seconds. I found that while having the marshmallow on a toothpick, pouring the caramel over the top of the marshmallow then dunking the bottom into the caramel then putting it in the krispies was an effective way to coat them without them melting and falling off the toothpick in the caramel. I used Coco Krispies and that was so tasty!

Made these MANY years ago. Used really fresh marshmallow and I ended up with a ess, because I'd spent a lot of time and $$$, I greased a 9x13 pan , poured everything in and made bars!!

Maybe if you made a baked graham cracker crust for the bottom layer, or maybe even just make them on top of graham cracker squares. I have not tried it though. Just a thought.

These were SO good! Unfortunately though I don’t think I used the correct kind of caramels… we don’t have Kraft Caramels in Australia, so I used Jersey Caramels. A sweet young military wife brought these over as a welcome-to-the-neighborhood treat 30 years ago! She had no idea what an obsession she would cause and a wonderful family tradition that sprang from her welcome treat. We changed it up a bit to fit our family but they remain the original recipe. We put them in cupcake wrappers and leave the toothpick in so they are a fun finger food without getting too sticky. We make dozens at a time so we put them in foil pans and stick in the freezer until we are ready to eat. It only takes about 10 minutes to come to room temp and my kids just never waited that long anyway. We have given them as gifts, taken them as a party dessert, and treated school chums on the last day of school. Always a hit and always "Can you give the recipe please?". Keep passing this treat on to others because it is for sure a keeper and a delicious tradition to carry on.
